Cuba, April 5, 2013. Our last day in Cuba and it rained

Friday, April 5th was our last day in Cuba.  Elaine and I had little time do anything since we had to vacate our room before 11 am.  After leaving our luggage at reception, we had about 5 hours to kill.  We thought of taking a cab ride into Varadero to buy gifts before heading off to the airport.  Instead, we opted to stay at the resort and purchase some gifts from the merchants who had setup shop there.  It was a wise decision because a tropical rain storm came in hard and fast.  We managed to stay dry and get some decent gifts as well.

I must say that we were fortunate.  Not only did we enjoy a great week in Cuba with good friends, we were also blessed with great weather.   So, it was no big deal that a torrential downpour came on our day of departure.

Finally, here is the obligatory and boring shot of our resort.  You’ve seen one resort, you’ve seen them all.

Elaine and I are looking forward to returning to Cuba as soon as we can.  Hopefully, that means another visit during the Christmas season.  We also extend our fondest thanks to Carlos and Judy for being such wonderful hosts, guides and friends.
