Elaine and I tried to go see the aurora borealis on Jan 24, 2011. We drove north 25 KM in to the country. All we got to see was clouds and light pollution. So, I decided to do some long exposure photography as the effect was cool.  These photos are 25 to 30 second exposures done at night.  The camera can see much more than the naked eye.

All images were taken with a Pentax K-5 and a Tamron 10-24 mm Ultrawide.
