April 2, 2021 – A Little Bit of Prince Edward Island

On Good Friday, I went for an afternoon drive visiting various points in PEI.  That morning the fog was thick and visibility was poor, however, by mid-afternoon it had lifted leaving a slight haze over the island which is apparent in these photos.  My little excursion took me through Victoria Park in Charlottetown and then along the north shore stopping on Tracadie Bay and Brackley Beach.  The first image in the gallery is a view looking down my street.  The next two images were taken from Victoria Park Roadway in Charlottetown.  The next set of images are from Tracadie Harbour and the remaining ones are from the Brackley Drive-In Theatre.

I stopped at the theatre to take photos of the dilapidated old car which decorates the entrance. I was curious to see what make/model it might be. I’m not a car guy, but from the grillwork, one spots the Austin logo and upon second glance, it appears this vehicle was a cab. A bit of googling suggests it could be an Austin FX4 which was produced by the British Motor Corporation (1958-1968) and British Leyland (1968-1982).  I doubt this vehicle will ever be roadworthy again, but it makes a nice ornament.

In keeping with the theme of my last few posts, I shot all these photos using decades old vintage lenses adapted to my Sony A73.  The lenses used were: Olympus Zuiko 35mm f/2.8, SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 and SMC Takumar 135mm f/2.5.  I really enjoy shooting with these old optics as it requires one to be patient and use manual control instead of automation.  They also have a unique look that is not a feature of clinically accurate modern lenses.
