July 6, 2021 – Mackenzies Brook, PEI National Park

I finished work early and rode my Harley from Cornwall to the island’s north shore and Mackenzie’s Brook – the day was too nice to waste indoors.

Located near Cavendish, Mackenzies Brook is a beach within PEI National Park.  Its most famous feature is a large hole, the sea arch, that has been eroded inside one of the sandstone formations that line the coast.  Over time the remaining sandstone will erode even further causing the arch to collapse resulting in a sea arch.    I arrived during high tide and the beach was bereft of people.  Normally one can walk across the sandy beach to see the sandstone hole, but the tide forced me to walk across all those boulders to grab a few shots.  It was a bit cumbersome, but worth it.

There is also a small tunnel that drains water from the surrounding area into the ocean.  The graffiti inside this tunnel casts some interesting reflections on the water resulting in this image.
