Oct 3, 2020 – Day one on the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

The morning started in Port Hawkesbury and we drove along the Ceilidh Trail entering the Cabot Trail near Margaree.  The remainder of the day was spent exploring the eastern side of the trail heading north.  It is one of the most beautiful drives anywhere in the world and it should make any Canadian proud to be living in such an incredible country.

Our travels ended at Pleasant Bay, a popular and picturesque destination for Cabot Trail travelers.  We were lucky to find a room as there are many vacationers viewing the fall colours.  We booked a great cottage and enjoyed a really nice dinner in town.  Melissa and I had a blast playing board games throughout the night.

Those funky looking geodesic domes are “glamping” motel rooms at True North Destinations. If you’ve got over $500 a night to spend and like to be pampered, this is your place. Melissa and I stayed next door at the Flip Flop Villa cottage. It was a beautiful place and very well appointed, not to mention a fraction of the cost of the neighbouring geodesic domes. If you ever travel the Cabot Trail, I highly recommend Flip Flop Villa.
