Shooting film for the first time in over 20 years

A few weeks ago I had a roll of film developed – the first in over 20 years. It was an expired roll of Fujicolor 200 and the end results left me a bit underwhelmed, but this was an experiment after all. The film proved to be quite grainy and soft. A local lab scanned the negatives, but they were crappy, so I rescanned them myself and made a few minor adjustments for contrast and exposure in order to maintain the original (retro?) look of the negatives.

These images were shot on a Minolta Maxxum 7xi that was donated by a friend. It is a late 80’s era plastic bodied SRL with motor drive and very early generation autofocus.  I plan on shooting film again, but this time with fresh Fuji Superia film and a nice vintage Olympus OM-2 with sharp Zuiko lenses. Fresh film should produce superior results.
